Harlen Lobley
Harlen began his radio sales career on September 10th, 2001. Yes, the day before 9/11. He used to say; “Well, I had one good day in radio.” But he wasn’t deterred. Under the tutelage of his mentor Ginger Dockery, he began a career that has now lasted 23 years.
Harlen was promoted to Local Sales Manager of the Longview, Texas sales team in 2005. He was then promoted to General Sales Manager in 2008. And finally promoted to Director of Sales for the Tyler & Longview market in 2014.
Harlen has successfully trained and developed 28 Account Executives who had careers lasting more than three years.
Harlen has created numerous profitable promotions including a huge Father’s Day promotion, the largest amateur bass fishing tournament in the state of Texas, multiple Christmas promotions over four stations, and most notably a Friday night high school football show that makes hundreds of thousands of dollars each year, gives away 19 $1,005 college scholarships each year, raises over $20,000 each year to feed children in East Texas, and ardently encourages high school students to never text and drive.
The Friday Night Scoreboard Show is now in its 21st season.
Harlen was inducted into the East Texas Coaches Association Hall of Fame for his success and philanthropic efforts.
Additionally, Harlen has garnered five finalist nominations for the NAB Marconi Award for medium market Personality of the Year.
Harlen serves as the Board President of the Martin House Children’s Advocacy Center. A board member for 9 years, Board President for the past 6.
Harlen continues as Alpha Media East Texas’ Director of Sales and Sports Director in Tyler and Longview to this day.
Harlen is married to his beautiful wife, Katy, and is the father of three children; Mac, Addison, and Vivian.
