My love for storytelling came at an early age, when I first discovered the mural artwork surrounding my childhood neighborhood of the Mission District in San Francisco. These murals told incredible stories that resonated with my latin roots. I immediately understood the power that an image could have on a person, let alone a community. My curiosity led to countless hours drawing and painting but it wasn’t until high school that I really began playing with a camera, creating images and then watching them develop in the darkroom. 35mm was my gateway, and I continued to dive deeper into it’s rabbit hole of image making. My appetite for storytelling would eventually lead me to pursue higher education. I graduated from UCLA’s undergraduate film and television production program, and soon after received my MFA in cinematography from the American Film Institute. I have since lensed both narrative and documentary feature films, docu-series, music videos, and branded content, teaming up with collaborators who have become lifelong friends. Painting a picture with light, capturing a character with a lens choice and telling stories that will live on inspires me to keep dreaming and creating.
